President Trump on Tuesday signed a deal on the security of the semi-autonomous Danish territory of Greenland, in a bid to end the standoff over the strategic island. The deal follows Trump’s repeated threats to annex Greenland—a move he insisted was a matter of “national security,” on account of the mineral-rich Arctic territory’s positioning between the U.S., Russia, and Europe. The signed agreement notably stops short of Trump's call for the U.S. to ​take over Greenland as a U.S. territory. Instead, in a speech at the U.N. gathering, Trump said the deal gives the U.S. "permanent control over security and all other needs on that territory" and emphasized that "no U.S. adversary will ever be permitted to establish a military ​presence in Greenland ​any more, or ⁠make sensitive investments there without our express written approval." In 2023, two new vaccines against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), which kills thousands of older adults annually in the U.S., hit the market. As millions of people aged 60 and older received the shots, researchers watched and waited to see whether the efficacy numbers seen in clinical trials, which were quite high, would be mirrored in the real world. In a study published Sept. 18 in JAMA Network Open looking at 14.8 million seniors, researchers at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration found that the vaccines were highly effective, reducing the chances of an RSV-related hospitalization or death by around 80%. @thesaltycooker One things you’ll always find in my fridge is my Korean BBQ Sauce recipe. Its sweet & a little spicy. It pairs great with all proteins & veggies. It stores great. Recipe👇 Ingredients 1 cup soy sauce 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed 1 1/2 tbsp sesame oil 1 1/2 tbsp Korean Chili Paste 1/3 cup of water 1/3 cup mirin 1 1/2 tbsp rice vinegar 2 tsp grated ginger 2 tbsp green onions, chopped slurry 1 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water Place a medium pot over medium heat. Add the soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, chili paste, water, mirin, vinegar, ginger and green onions. Stir well and once the sugar is dissolved, approximately 5-8 minutes. Create the slurry with the cornstarch and water. Add to the sauce, and whisk in until smooth. The sauce will start to thicken. Once thickened to a sauce, turn off heat. Ye attended the unveiling of Dr. Donda West Way in Chicago today, an honorary street dedicated to his late mother near the South Shore home where she raised him. The name now marks a section of 78th Street between South Shore Drive and Coles Avenue. Donda West was an educator, author and professor at Chicago State University, where she spent 24 years and chaired the English department. She also helped establish the university’s Gwendolyn Brooks Center for Black Literature and Creative Writing before leaving academia to manage her son’s career. Nearly 19 years after her passing, her name is now permanently part of the neighborhood that shaped them both.
