Surrounded by traditional terracotta orci da vino, the wine cellars of the Collazzi Estate became our workshop for the weekend. It was impossible not to be swept up in the romance of the Italian setting, crafting by hand, surrounded by history, and watching our extraordinarily talented florists turn flowers into living art. The cool cellars offered welcome relief from the golden Italian sunshine as we conditioned the flowers and created each arrangement. Antique silver vessels were filled with royal burgundy ranunculus, blousy peonies and burnt-orange cymbidium, their rich tones glowing against the aged terracotta and stone. Only at the very last moment were the finished arrangements carried out of the cellar and set amongst the tables, into the full glory of the Italian sun. The second produce market pop up I opened was in September of 2020, when the city was still and quiet. A small space in the heart of Little Italy, on Mulberry Street, owned by a family who had been on the block for decades. My little nook was tucked inside a soon to open vegan Italian deli. None of it made much sense to me, but it didn’t really matter. I was in love with a feeling and wanted to share it the only way I knew how: through the sacred act of sharing food. Of saying, here, taste this. I filled the shop with yellow oyster mushrooms, Femme Fatale lemons, Lucy Glo apples, perfectly ripe figs and whatever else stopped me in my tracks. Things with beautiful names and strange colors. Things you wanted to pick up, smell, taste, ask where they came from. At the time, I wrote that Alimentari existed because I believed the city needed a glimmer of beauty and romance. A little permission to wander. To indulge in the most healthy form of escapism. I wanted people to slow down. To remember that breaking bread, biting into a fig or handing someone a piece of fruit could be intimate. That there was romance to be found in the leaves of a satsuma. Looking back, Alimentari was my response to how overwhelming the world felt then. A small place devoted to quality, curiosity and finding romance through the senses. It was messy, deeply passionate and almost entirely spontaneous. Six years later, I’m still chasing the same feeling. Here, taste this.

We’re excited to share the Ceremoni logo with you ✨ To capture the essence of Ceremoni, we worked with graphic designer @annekatrineraahede. With ancient folklore as a starting point, we looked through medieval woodcuts and typesetting from when the letterpress was first made. AK drew inspiration from sigil symbols and the concept of a magic wand. Using black gouache and a calligraphy pen, she created Ceremoni’s flourishing logomark. The logotype was then selected to match the curious and mysterious visual language and customised to make it just right. The result is an emblem that embodies Ceremoni, something special to mark occasions, connect, and celebrate. Thank you so much, AK! 🤍

Varios veranos en uno, en este cumplí 36…🤍🫰🏽y así va: Cuando piensas que si, luego no y al revés también. Lo bueno toma tiempo. Hay oportunidades para todo, pero solo se presentan una vez. Bendita la impermanencia y en la misma medida bendito el autoconocimiento. Bendito el día que te dejas de tomar tan en serio. Las canas muy poco a poco se vuelven amigas, pero igual me las tapo. El camino se pone más interesante con los años, desarrollar genuina curiosidad hacia todo es básico.
